The makeITfair Youth Round Table will be held from 13-15 March 2009 in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Selected leading youth organizations within Europe are invited to attend, brainstorm and get active to forge environmental and social sustainability within the electronic products cycle.
The makeITfair campaign is a European awareness raising project that focuses on the social and environmental problems that arise within the electronic products cycle. Every year a round table is held. Last year a successful roundtable has been held with experts (NGOs) and companies from the IT sector. This year the focus of the round table is the European young generation.
Amsterdam Youth Round Table
Leading youth organizations in Europe that are
actively representing the youth within their own country or region, interested
in the objectives of makeITfair and strongly motivated to continue to work on
this subject matter to participate at this round table and to develop further
plans for action on a national and European level are invited. The objective of
the Youth Round Table is to not only inform the participants at the conference
about the misconduct within the electronic products cycle but also aims to hand
them tools as to what they as youth organizations and as EU-citizens can do. In addition, it seeks to provide
a platform for representatives of youth organizations concerned with these
issues to exchange ideas and experience with each other and makeITfair.
The event shall take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands
from Friday 13 March (starts at 3:30 pm)
to Sunday 15 March 2009 (ends Sunday 15 march at 2 pm). During this conference participants from the South (“Workers Assistance
Center” from the Philippines
and the “Thai Labour Campaign” from Thailand)
shall share their organizations’ experiences in their struggle to empower
workers in their countries. In addition, various workshops shall take place
with experts, corporations from the IT-industry and lobbyists such as
